Position:   Herdsperson

Location: Dorset

The farm:

This modern, well-equipped farm is looking for a Herdsperson for their 400 commercial herd on a 550-acre site. Milking is completed twice daily in a 18/36 swingover parlour. The herd are housed on sawdust and sand beds with grazing in the summer. The herd are TMR fed with calving all year round on this farm.

The position/applicant:

We are seeking an experienced Herdsperson:

  • Excellent stockperson with a focus on calf rearing and herd health
  • Good recording keeping
  • Competent milker
  • AI would be an advantage but not essential

 Accommodation is a three semi-detached house.

This is a contract position, where the successful person will operate as an agency worker with Farm Solutions. This means that the person will not have sub-contractor responsibilities and all statutory tax deductions and payments will be made by Farm Solutions on their behalf. Hourly pay operates, which includes pay for overtime hours worked.

Milker/General Farm Worker in Roxburghshire Ref 1050  -  Enquire about this vacancy»

Position:           General Farm Worker/Milker

Award winning dairy farm offering a unique opportunity to be a key part of it’s success.

If you are an experienced Milker who can demonstrate a clear focus on quality and cow husbandry skills this could be the ideal position for you !

The farm:

Recognised for high yielding cows, high quality genetics and profitable milk production, this progressive farm has 1,100 Holstein herd on 1,600 acres. Milking is done twice daily in a 60 point GEA parlour. The herd are cubicle housed all year round and TMR fed.

The position/Applicant:

The main focus of this rile is milking twice daily with an emphasis on good milking protocols and skilled cow husbandry.

The successful applicant must have previous milking experience but is also willing to learn. A full driving licence is required. AI would be an advantage but not essential.

A recently renovated 3 bed farmhouse will be provide to successful applicant.

Position:     Assistant Herdsperson with Grass based system

The Farm:

This modern, well equipped farm is looking for an experienced Assistant Herdsperson for their 320 dairy cow herd. Milking is completed twice daily in a well-equipped 30/60 swingover parlour. A New Zealand system grass production system in operation.

The position/applicant:

We are seeking an experienced Herdsperson for this role with a knowledge of New Zealand grass based system.

The successful candidate must have the following:

  • Previous milking experience
  • Previous experience with herds of in excess of 300 cows
  • Experience in basic tractor driving skills
  • Experience of extensive grazing systems is an advantage

The Farm:

Interested in working on a successful grassland  'New Zealand' based system dairy farm? This modern, well-equipped farm is looking for a Herdsperson for their 700-cow herd on the 600-acres farm

The position/applicant:

Our client is particularly  interested in applicants with a specific interest  in grassland systems, no experience necessary, moreso the interest and enthusiasm for same. 

This role requires a firm focus on herd health so excellent cow husbandry skills are key and will include calf rearing.  Milking is completed twice daily in a DeLaval 44-point swing over parlour and so applicants should have sound milking knowledge and competence and be capable of managing a large dairy herd. Farm machinery usage will include some tractor driving so a  full licence is essential. 

This is a great opportunity to work and learn on an expanding spring calving dairy farm in Scotland.  Recent graduates with an interest in grassland management  are also welcome to apply.

Accommodation will be provided to the successful applicant and will either be shared  or in a cottage available for a family.
