The Farm

This is an exciting opportunity to manager and develop an Arable, Beef and Sheep enterprise. This estate includes an 800 acres in hand organic farm. On the estate there are 35 Angus suckler cows and followers with 450 Llyne sheep. 

The Position/Applicant:

We are seeking an experienced Farm Manager with excellent operational, communication and people management skills to be an integral part of the farm team.The successful candidate will need experience with livestock and of an arable operation.

Principal Responsibilities

  • To farm for a trading profit
  • To maintain and enhance the existing herd of Aberdeen Angus cattle and flock of Lleyn sheep
  • Maintain the Organic status 
  • Farm in accordance with the extant Organic Higher Level Stewardship agreement
  • Organic arable crops and forage will be grown to support the herd and excess will be sold into the market.
  • Maintain the farm buildings 
  • Maintain all farm assets at a very high standard including buildings, fencing, gates, troughs and tracks.
  • Ensure BPS compliance. The Farm manager will be responsible for the annual BPS claim
  • Assist in enhancing the farm’s environment for game birds and wild birds.
  • Support the shoot and deliver first class game cover.
  • Build good relationships with neighbours.
  • Investigate, recommend and initiate new enterprises.
  • To agree an annual budget including capex and manage to that budget.
  • To maintain accurate and timely field and cow records in accordance with legal and Soil Association requirements.
  • To liaise and work with the Estate Manager.
  • To maintain and enhance the appearance of the Estate.

Support

  • Estate Manager and Bookkeeper together with external Consultant and Agent.
  • Farm Worker (to be recruited)

Controls

  • Annual budget to be prepared with help of Estate staff, Agent and Owner.
  • Quarterly Estate meetings.
  • Shoot meetings when called.

In addition to the above and duties which the job of Working Farm Manager normally entails, the Employee may from time to time, be required to undertake such other duties at the premises as the Employer may from time to time reasonably assign to him.

Position : Herdsperson required

The Farm:

 We are seeking an Herdsperson to join our clients team on a  progressive 500 cow dairy herd in Cornwall. Milking is completed  three times daily in a modern 60 point rotary parlour. Herd Housing is in sand bedded cubicles.

The main role will be to manage the milkings and parlour routine, oversee and work together with other team members and milking staff. This will mean being practically involved within the milking rota, being on top of herd health and care, dairy hygiene and standards.

Seeking a good stockperson who has good knowledge of cows, ability to fit into existing team structure and lead parlour duties. 

The successful person  will be:

Experienced and competent in milking and use of modern milking parlours.

Experienced in milking of herds in excess of 200 cows.

Able to run the milking and parlour team.

A good communicator.

Have a genuine focus on herd health and care.

Have a strict focus on dairy hygiene and standards within the milking regime. 

Area:

Beautiful location and within a few miles of the coast/beaches.

Appropriate accommodation  will be provided.

Assistant Herdsperson in Cheshire Ref 1312  -  Enquire about this vacancy»

Position:     General Farm Worker/Milker

The Farm:

This family run farm has 700 cross bred herd on a 800 acres site. The herd is milked twice daily in a 40-point rotary parlour.The herd is cubicle housed in winter and grazed in summer.

The position/applicant:

Our client is looking for a competent milker and a good stock person with experience in tractor driving.

The successful candidate would be required to:

  • Milk twice daily
  • Other duties include tractor driving and calf rearing.
  • Yard duties such as scraping out and bedding up.

Please note the successful applicant will not work the  Friday afternoon  of their weekend off so will have 2.5 days off a fortnight.  

Accommodation is a  2/3 bed house in the village.

Assistant Herdsperson / Milker in Yeovil Ref 1304  -  Enquire about this vacancy»

The Farm:

Well equipped dairy farm with a herd of 170 cows seeks an experienced  Assistant Herdsperson / Milker to join a high performance team. Milking is completed twice daily in a Fullwood Herringbone parlour. The herd are housed at calving and Wintertime in sand bed  cubicles. A TMR  and grassland  feed system is in place. Autumn block calving is in operation.

The position/applicant:

It is essential that applicants are proven Milkers who can quickly become a reliable and efficient member of a high performance team with a focus on hygiene,  herd care and parlour duties.

Specific duties will include:

  •  Drying off, treating cows 
  •  Keeping the parlour and dairy clean
  •  Day book entries only
  •  Nightly Checks – calving and bulling cows
  •  Raking  cubicles and a  little yard work
  •  Pulling out cows and making vet lists for routine visits
  • Grassland management

Accommodation is provided in mobile home on farm

A family run business which has been producing its own award winning cheddar for generations and now also supplying  quality wholesaler, delicatessens and Specialist Cheese Stores is seeking an Assistant Herdsperson who has a keen interest and commitment to cow husbandry. 

The position/applicant:

We are seeking an Assistant Herdsperson to focus on the herd of 220 cows, train to competency level on the Lely robotic milking machines, complete AI, foot trimming, cow checks, milking checks, training heifers, calving cows, calf rearing  and general yard work.

Applicants with AI and foot trimming preferred but our client is willing to provide training on same.

Accommodation will be sourced in the nearby town (1 mile from farm).
